The purpose of the Sunset Liberty March is to solemnly and visibly honor veterans past, present, and future. To recognize the principle of Liberty that all veterans strive towards and unite them in a cause. To memorialize the history and sacrifice of those who served and continue to serve. To remind us that we walk together towards a common goal that is arrived at through hard work and sacrifice.
The Sunset Liberty March is a .6-mile march happening 365 days a year at sunset. The march starts at Honeycutt and Liberty Trail (Old Bragg Blvd) and ends near where Randolph & Butner intersect. The “Liberty Marcher” will render honors in front of the monument (to be constructed) .
This initiative is maintained through a collaboration between Fort Bragg and the Cumberland County Veterans Council.
You must be a veteran, current service member (active or reserve), or Gold Star Family member. Follow the registration process to sign up for your day. In the calendar below, you can see on which days registrations are open. All instructions will be provided to you by email upon your registration.
Anyone can walk the Sunset Liberty March with the designated “Liberty Marcher”. You DO NOT need to register to walk. You DO NOT need to be a veteran or service member to participate in the march, but there will only be one designed “Liberty Marcher”. Community groups, Boy or Girl Scout Troops, churches, families, or anyone is encouraged to come to join the march each day. Please ensure you have a pass to access the base.
